Run 2 Be Fit
I am a mother of three daughters (ages 7, 10, 17). By day I substitute teach, coach and by night I run (pun intended) a local race company (Run 2 Be Fit) and the PNW Ladies Running Group.
I didn’t grow up hiking, camping, being active etc. When my husband and I moved to WA state from California, it changed everything! We started exploring the mountains, rivers, waterfalls – all the natural goodness this place had to offer and soon resolved that we and our kids would adopt this lifestyle. It’s not feasible to go into the mountains on an everyday basis, running, soccer, biking is what we do as a family.
Starting to run as an adult, and thoroughly enjoying it, I started coaching novice adults in 5k and half marathon group training in 2015. In 2016 I started to coach middle school girls soccer and in 2017 took on cross country.
Over the years, I’ve had my ups and downs, working through childbirth, as well as soccer-related injuries. These impacted my ability to run and I’ve had to work my way up to my base a few times during my 20+ years of running.
Some of these pics are from the 2018 race year. It was the first time in a long time that I ran mostly pain free, learnt more about myself and made many more running friends.
The running community, in particular my running group, is a big influence for me. We are all learning from one another and we run for fun! Relays are my favourite!
Thank you for the time and this snippet Grace Martinez!!
